HOW TO TAKE BETTER CANDID PICTURES OF YOUR KIDS?

The most amazing pictures I've seen of kids are when they're lost in their own world of play or caught up in their natural moments.

It could be them making a mess in the mud kitchen, building Lego towers, creating forts, or sharing a peaceful snuggle before hitting the sack. Whatever the moment is, just whip out your camera or phone without causing a scene. No need for "say cheese!" Just start clicking away and soon enough they won't even notice you're there.

Keep your camera within reach:

Just leave it on the counter so you're always good to go when a picture-perfect moment pops up. Get used to being ready for a snap, and don't sweat about whether you're using a manual, point-and-shoot, or your smartphone. Remember, the best camera is the one that's with you!

Take a moment to reflect:

Consider what aspects of your current life you'd like to hold onto. What's going to change in a week, a month, or even a year? What do you adore about your kids? Is it their adorable toothless grins, their knack for building forts, or those epic dance-offs in the living room? Or perhaps it's their endless fascination with Legos and those hilarious naked sprints around the house every evening?

Are they little bundles of energy or more on the quiet and shy side?

THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD HELP ENCAPSULATE THEIR UNIQUE PERSONALITIES:

Consider what's important to them as well - the corners of your home they love or their favorite toys. Snapping some cool pics of these things could end up being super meaningful to you down the line! Jot down a list of these special moments or characteristics you want to catch on camera.

GO WITH THE FLOW OF CANDID SHOTS:

With this style of photography, you're not in control - and that's where the real magic lies. Ideally, your kids won't even notice they're on camera. The big win? You get to capture their most natural moments and expressions - the kind you'd miss if you were going for traditional, posed photos.

KEEP IT LIGHT-HEARTED AND DODGE THE OLD "BRIBE YOUR KIDS FOR A PICTURE" ROUTINE:

Think about why you wanted to capture this season in photos and be ready for those moments you've identified as special memories. You know your kids better than anyone else, so keep your camera handy. Kids tend to repeat their actions, so be ready for round two!

CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE:

Don't forget you're probably way taller than your kiddos. Most pics are snapped from this bird's-eye view. But if you want some cool action shots of your little one, then you've gotta get down to their level! You could even try chilling on the ground to see the world from their pint-sized perspective.

Don't try to do the perfect picture but try to capture an emotion. If you feel like it's to hard you can always ask a professional to do it.
